Terms of Service

Terms of service

Last updated July 2026. By using ICD10 Detail you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. What we provide

ICD10 Detail is a free reference for the ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, HCPCS Level II, modifier and MS-DRG code sets. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the site at any time without notice.

2. Reference only - no advice

The site provides general reference information. It is not medical advice, not coding or billing advice, and not a substitute for professional judgment or for the official CMS and NCHS publications. Using the site creates no professional or advisory relationship. This is set out in full in the medical disclaimer, which forms part of these terms.

3. Acceptable use

You may use the site for lawful personal and professional reference, including in the course of your work. You may not:

  • scrape, crawl or bulk-download the site beyond what our robots.txt permits, or in a way that degrades service for others;
  • republish the site’s original commentary as your own;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site or its infrastructure;
  • use the site to build a competing bulk data product; or
  • remove or obscure any notice or disclaimer.

If you need the underlying code data in bulk, obtain it directly from CMS, where it is published free of charge.

4. Intellectual property

The ICD-10 code descriptions, coding notes and classification hierarchy are published by CMS and the NCHS and are in the public domain. We claim no ownership of them.

The original material on this site - our written summaries, clinical context, coding tips, FAQs, page structure, design and code - is © 2027 ICD10 Detail. You may quote short extracts with attribution and a link. Wholesale reproduction requires written permission.

5. No warranty

The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or that its information is complete or current.

6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, ICD10 Detail and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenue, data, claims, or reimbursement, arising from your use of or inability to use the site - including any coding, billing or clinical decision made in reliance on it.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ICD10 Detail from any claim or demand arising out of your misuse of the site or your breach of these terms.

8. External links

The site may link to third-party sites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.

9. Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and continued use of the site after a change constitutes acceptance.

10. Severability

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions stay in full force.
